At graduation she received the award for Clinical Excellence in Restorative dentistry, an ideal she strives to maintain in her practice. In 1985 she set up her practice with Dr. Dorie White who was also in her graduating class. Together they have worked to build a practice dedicated to providing quality dentistry in a comfortable and caring environment. In addition, she highly values the use of technology, and has added digital x-rays and computer charting for her patients.

Dr. Rothwell supports the University of Washington as a member of the UW Foundation Board. She also remains active in the Dental School, through a teaching award in memory of her late husband, who was Chairman of Restorative Dentistry, and also through serving on the the Dean's Club Board, recently as president. She has also served on the Admissions Committee of the Dental School in the past. She has been a member of the ADA, WSDA, and SKCDS for over 29 years.
